Two-story homes, big glass, and long attic duct runs. We fix the system you have and size the next one to the house, not a rule of thumb.

Energy Whisperer Home Services is a family-owned HVAC company based in New Port Richey, close enough to Trinity and Starkey Ranch that these are everyday calls for us. We repair and replace central air conditioners and heat pumps, install ductless mini splits, and maintain systems on our Meta Tune plan. You get a diagnosis and a price before any work starts, and the same people on return visits.
Heritage Springs, Champions Club, Thousand Oaks, Mitchell Ranch, and the communities along Little Road and SR 54.
Newer construction where builder-grade systems are reaching the age when the first big repairs show up.
Longleaf off SR 54, plus the larger lots and custom homes south toward Odessa and Keystone.
Many Trinity and Starkey Ranch homes are two stories with one system trying to cool both floors. The result is a cold downstairs and a warm upstairs. Before recommending a bigger unit, we check duct sizing, return air, and whether zoning or a ductless head for the bonus room would fix it for less.
Builder-installed systems in newer neighborhoods were often sized quickly and installed with minimum-spec ductwork. Around the 10 to 15 year mark, capacitors, fan motors, and coils start failing, and that is when the repair-or-replace question comes up.
Large windows and open floor plans mean the house gains a lot of heat in the afternoon. A properly sized variable-speed system runs longer at low speed, which pulls more humidity out and keeps the temperature even instead of cycling hard.

We size the system to your house: square footage, windows, insulation, and orientation.
Usually a good, better, and best option, including Daikin as an authorized dealer, with the differences explained plainly.
A new unit on leaky or undersized ducts still feels weak. We fix what is needed before the install.
We protect floors and finishes, haul the old unit away, and show you the thermostat and filter.
If the upstairs is always warmer, check that the upstairs return vents are open and not blocked by furniture. If they are clear and it is still 4 or more degrees warmer, the duct design is the likely cause, and that is fixable.

Heat rises, and on a single system the upstairs is usually at the end of the longest duct runs with too little return air. The fix can be duct and return changes, zoning, or a ductless unit for the hottest rooms. A bigger AC on its own rarely solves it.
In Florida, where a system runs most of the year, 12 to 15 years is typical with regular maintenance. Systems without maintenance often fail sooner.
